Peanut Tofu, 100 g
A local specialty of Nagasaki, sesame tofu is said to have been brought by Buddhist monks in the 17th century at the same time as vegetarian Zen cuisine. Although it is called tofu, white sesame tofu does not contain soy. It can therefore be stored at room temperature for a year. Produced in the city of Sasebo (Nagasaki), this sesame tofu has been made in a traditional way for 3 generations, from wild kuzu, brown sugar produced on the island of Kikai and sesame seeds. These are roasted and reduced to a paste by the producer.
Flavor :This tofu has a subtle peanut flavor and a creamy, pudding-like texture.
Usage: Peanut tofu goes with all types of dishes: it can be served as a starter with a salad and a drizzle of sauce soy with dashi, for dessert with honey, kinako or cocoa or even for a breakfast garnished with fruits and dried fruits. This product is ideal for vegetarian and vegan diets.
